I’ve always had the opposite experience. Android shits itself and iPhone just works.

Depends on how you use it; trying to use an Apple phone like an Android device (Alt/SideStore, web apps, etc.) is the point where it goes to shit.

Yep. I never Jailbreak iPhones. Ever. And I never have a problem with them.
