i forgot about this problem, but youβre right
i know the damus team has been keeping a close watch and prioritises this
Yea I too can't disable enough preloads to not also get wrekt.
I'm wifi only now ;[
maybe this project can help https://github.com/Yonle/bostr
We could probably shrink images based on user connection. πΆπΎπ€
1 ultra efficient relay. Donβt care if centralized database even. Optimized / compressed / resized images and an option to turn off all media.
I hear you. Media is a huge consumer of bandwidth, especially with PFPs and gifs. Video is also not small. Video part I am already working on, but the images we serve are still oversized for the display they are on. πΆπΎπ«‘

I think we can get rid of media entirely. Hide PFPs. Don't need reaction counts. Don't need to load any counts at all really.
That is definitely doable, Nostur already has that mode πΆπΎπ«‘
yeah but I don't like the card view ;(
πΆπΎπ€π€π€ good point
Fast like Cheetah!

Mobile native app actually knows if it is using cell or wifi, so we could even have an automated config to stop loading media if on cell. Relays are a problem too, since they potentially pull same events from different relays. There is a project that allows you to have a server pull and deduplicate events, and itβs on GitHub πΆπΎπ«‘
