"This time, Assange was finally granted the right to appear in person. Although an empty iron cage sat in the courtroom waiting for Assange, Assange was too sick to show up. He had broken a rib due to excessive coughing.

"The situation is dire. And not just for the life of one man. Assange’s case is the press freedom trial of the twenty-first century.

"If the United States succeeds in prosecuting Assange under the Espionage Act for publishing information about its war crimes, it will be shredding the First Amendment’s press freedom guarantees. But the damage will extend far beyond US borders. Assange is not an American, and WikiLeaks is not based in the United States. The United States is asserting the right to track down any journalist anywhere in the world, seize them, haul them to the United States, and disappear them into a US prison."

What the hell does this mean that "[Assange] had broken a rib due to excessive coughing"?

You break your rib by excessive coughing? Seriously? What the hell is going on inside Belmarsh prison with #Assange?

The Jacobin reports... 👇

It happened to me when I had case of pneumonia as a teenager.

Omg! So this happens. I understand. May it also happen even to an adult? To a strong 6 feet structure like #Assange? They must have broken him to the bones.

#FreeAssangeNow

I was 19 and 5’10”. I’d say that I was closer to my prime then than a 60 year old who has been in captivity for a decade. Not everything is a conspiracy. Only 99% lately. 🤣

FREE ASSANGE! 💜

Okay, I understand. Thank you. Assange is 52 by the way. And I don't like conspiracy theories either. Footage from the ecuadorian embassy in London showed he was still strong. It's only the last five years inside Belmarsh prison that weakened him physically and mentally. But you were a damn youth of 19— that's a huge info. I never knew someone could break his rib by excessive coughing.

He is an old looking 52. Thanks for the correction.
