I know that with some brands, this is exactly the case. OnePlus, on some models with desktop mode turned on in developer settings, it works well. For some reason it's like they don't care to fix the issues. Sad to see. But, yes I totally agree and wish that Google would step up and just make a certification for it or something along the lines.

To be honest, I don't think many people give it much thought... But once you do it and it works, I mean come on. ;)
