Same. deleted FB two years ago and haven't even looked at threads .net yet.
Family is only reason for not deleting FB. But is slowly deleting all of the content that is on my profile. But that’s is kinda difficult to do.
I had a Facebook account with numerous family photos and contacts of friends. However, unexpectedly, I was banned from the platform without any explanation. Also, Facebook violated GDPR rules as I was unable to download a copy of my data. This served as a wake-up call, and I have decided never to share my data with them again
I have to spend one evening getting off that shit for good.
At first it feels weird then it feels liberating. Then you realise how much real "social" you had given up for social media and then you'll forget the site.
I’m not really using it. Nostr, telegram and Signal groups is only what I spend time on except kids and work… and a little weight lifting.
I thought the same then I realised that I can just call my family and friends at any time and that I can send and receive their pictures on my phone.
Fun fact, I'm "speaking" more with friends and family members now than I did back then.
Nothing Is holding me back. Home alone tomorrow night. Maybe that’s the sign.
Here is what I did
I posted an update on FB that I'll be deactivating my account (so MamaGrinder and RL friends wouldn't think I died or something).
The I waited three days. Logged on, deactivated the account (took a minute) and since then I haven't been on that site. I guess deleting works too but it's not like they'll delete the old data - even if they might say they are.
But maybe I should just do it, and if they canna get me they can use SimpleX, Nostr or Signal.

Had a long discussion with my friend about it yesterday, and we both agreed that no one seems to understand what they are signing up for
