because he's using node in a box solutions which aren't made for you to be in control of your software. switching to knots is simply replacing the qt (executable) file. start9 and umbrel are the same garbage as Core. stop trusting 3rd party services!

You built your own car and house and school and clothes and developed your own language and built your own country and invented your own type of air?
I'm impressed 😂
Seriously tho, if your a builder, you'll build your own house, if your an electronics guy, you'll build your own laptop. If your a software guy you'll develop your own code.
If your were a second rate Unix admin in the 1990's you prefer to have a box solution to a self configured solution because you were too busy building the Internet the world is using today.
Bitcoin exists to remove trust of 3rd parties, if you so choose. We all know the value of being able to transact without relying on a trusted 3rd party by now. This value extends to the code you run for your node. Bitcoin core became the most popular node client software because they made it easy. Now, as recent events show, that trust comes with cost. Users running core are treated like idiots that can't manage their own config. Core devs are influenced by monied interests and gatekeeping PR discussions. Antithetical to Bitcoin as free open source software.
Node in a box solutions also introduce trust, whereas users can lose control of their software and self sovereignty. Most don't let you learn how to change or update your node software. Pushed updates are a massive security flaw. Backdoor risks are a huge problem. The company can go out of business, leaving users with a paperweight. They introduce complexity in Bitcoin which is designed to run on just about any potato computer in the first place. Users can even run a pruned node if storage space is an issue.
If at any point you need a 3rd party to transact or verify, you defeat the purpose of using Bitcoin in the first place.
