Why are Bitcoiners obsessed with Proof-of-Work? It’s simple, but not easy.

Physical Work is based on the universal law and absolute theory that time is the one thing you can never create more of or get back or buy once it’s gone. Time can’t be manipulated. It’s the root of many fiction and fantasy novels, but never fact because it cannot be done. Work takes valuable finite time, therefore, Proof-of-Work means that time is spent to create it and that finality provides value.

Input = Output

Work = Time

Time = Finality

Finality = Scarcity

Scarcity = Rare

Rarity = Valuable

Therefore, because time is so valuable in both the figurative and literal sense, we must decide what to do with it. What we are willing to trade for it. Time with family and friends. Watching babies become kids and kids to adults. Creating works of art or craft or using our talent to create something digital or value in anyway. New inventions that change humanity. The commonality is time that we all have equally, but the output varies wildly.

Detractors of Proof-of-Work speak to the amount of Energy it uses, but they have proven time and time again to try and manipulate that energy to benefit themselves and not benefits others. Energy is the variable to Time + X = Value. The amount of energy put in with equal amount of time creates variable output value.

This is why we Bitcoin. This is why Bitcoin is valuable to those of us who Value our time and energy. And dedicate that energy into things that matter and mean something to us.

You are a product of Proof-of-Work and you are valuable. What will you do with that value?
