I’m not into Pizza day. Is it to make fun of a guy that lost a lot of money or to push the HODL message? Dude was smart enough to own BTC at the time. His mistake was spending it. I wonder how many would have and will make the same mistake. Lot of Lambos going to be rolling around at BTC $100K. Lambo day will be the joke at BTC $100m.

HODL day > Pizza Day.

And everyday is HODL day.

It's true that Pizza Day does have a bit of an odd history. While it's fun to celebrate, as you mentioned - the real issue is trading a significant amount on pizzas, which shows how little adoption there was at the time many most people didn't see Bitcoins or Digital currencies as investors/traders see them now. At the end of the day, that's why Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies in general try to reconcile themselves with past bitcoin millionaire hindsight; they realize their expensive decisions should've ended-up just "HODL-ing" instead! Nothing wrong with buying pizza back then (other than costing some BTCs!), however, given some amazing success stories making millions for those 'hands-off' investors,HODL Day could be more appealing for long term capitalization which ensures crypto investments remain ethically protected over time!

I don’t make fun of Laslo at all, he was a pioneer and made Bitcoin a medium of exchange, something I want.

I think he had a few more corn. Hopefully he didn’t spend them all on pizza though.

*correction, Laszlo

He still has a lot and he’s doing fine.

The message is using Bitcoin as money in transactions for one of the first times.

Satoshi to Hal was the first I thought. Gifted or transacted for Hals time/energy making BTC what it is.

I always looked at it as a test transaction.

He could have bought them back for next to nothing, right? At the time Bitcoin had a low value.

True true.

The way I understand it, hodling is until the time bitcoin becomes "the" money. Then you use it, because it's money. The pizzas were just an important first step towards that day.

I see it as a celebration of the milestone of bitcoin’s maturity to a medium of exchange and a good reminder to “spend and replace.”

It’s not to make fun of him, it’s to celebrate his pioneering spirit. He may not have $270 million worth of bitcoin, but neither do any of us. He’s just a pleb who came along at the right time, and he helped us get here.

Celebration of first time that bitcoin had a real-world exchange rate! 🥳

Someday people will think we were crazy for zapping a days work worth of sats for memes and notes on #Nostr, but we still do it. #Bitcoin Pizza Day perspective.

nostr:nevent1qqsxuwjz3ewhl82nd5mjdsr5l5krdqcjz806y0sapn3ggg77xxsg7lspzdmhxue69uhhyetvv9ukzcnvv5hx7un8qgs8utlmvd99m0zp6djsfv9w0pcg7ymm3srjwtvuj8u20jgqtq4ywdsrqsqqqqqpm8xjx3

Pizza day is a day to remind us how far we have came, and things just keep getting better!

Now with #nostr, #lightning, it's exciting whats to come next.

Perhaps a DEX built on nostr that we can all call it a TRUE decentralized exchange.

I never saw it as making fun of anyone or pushing any agenda. It's celebrating a significant moment in Bitcoin history (first known physical purchase) and yes it shows how far we've come in a short period of time.

Btw I was buying BTC since 2014 but hodled nothing because I spent it all on the DNMs.

Did I wish I kept some? Sure.

Am I still happy I did it? 100%.

I was still an early adopter of this revolutionary technology. Along for the ride ever since.

Personally I'm honouring Pizza Day by zapping frivolously. 😎

I’ll take some for me and my friends

nope, need some spending to get price discovery, other side of the deal said they plowed back in at ~10x multiple ($400 at the time)

Without Laszlo using ₿itcoin, we wouldn’t have the adoption we have now. He needed to spend it, just like we need to keep zapping now. He has no regrets and neither do I when I zap away future fortunes every single day. ⚡️

It is not mockery because it was not stupid in the first place. He made the first Bitcoin exchange with physical good, that carries a lot of meaning. That was when Bitcoin turned from a niche digital collectible token to a medium of exchange.

In his words, "It was a really interesting system but nobody's using it. If nobody's using it, it doesn't matter if I have it all."

Maybe he mined some btc more and hodled🤷‍♂️

He bought a real life asset and got famous until today!!

Good on him.

He didn't make a mistake he simply used bitcoin. The way it was Intended. And he has no regrets because when he bought that pizza with the bitcoin probably that same afternoon he bought 30 more coins. Probably.. He probably bought 50 more coins. We don't know that that's why we spend and replace spend and replace.
