I hear you. I humbly suggest watching Michio Kaku or Neil Degrasse Tyson on YouTube. They have a talent for explaining the Kardashev Scale to laypeople like me.

Essentially it’s a classification system with which to measure how powerful and technologically advanced civilizations are/ or can become.
