completely usable for human eye, not so much for qr

Well it depends on the screen resolution and the QR information density.

Lightning QRs are unfortunate very dense, not ideal for merchants. But you can use QR translators.

i understand that part, my point is more that QRs as a format are not great for outside use cases, nfc is superior

i understand that QRs work basically on every phone minus the few dumb phones in existence while nfc enabled phones are somewhat more rare. then again apple/google pay is fairly widely spread

Ah right, yeah definitely a nicer UX

still QR codes are simple and cheap. Ideal for online merchants. Also for donations - you can just print the QR with LNURL somewhere. No need for fancy NFC stack.
