The Joseph Smith Transalation of that scripture makes the most sense to me. It says to , "Judge not unrighteously, that ye be not judged; but judge righteous judgment."

We all must make judgements, but we need to make sure they're righteous judgements. Recognizing and acknowledging obvious sin within ourselves and others is a righteous judgement.
