I was more of a fan when it was just a chronological feed of people you actually wanted to follow, without the anger feedback loop algorithms. So the idea of making that into a protocol is really cool to me…

Can’t help but be a little worried about the untested nature of this thing. Is this robust? Are there big issues we don’t know about yet? Will people actually adopt this? Or is this the first mp3 player and the iPod has yet to come out?

Who tf knows. There’s potential here, I’ll be in the back with my popcorn.

It’s tough. Most people are content posting everything they do on social media. I used to do the same too…

What's your opinion on this behavior?

I was asking #[6] about this note:

People are free to do what they want. Many people here probably still regularly post on social media. To me posting on instagram is not important to me so I don’t.

I don’t want to feed big tech more information about me that they already have.

Why is there the shitcoin Signal icon in the bottom right of this intersting ads approach?

Ah OK I got it. This is marketing from Signal. 🫠

There was a news segment a while back about people oversharing on social media. They followed a YouTuber (I think) that would look in real time for public pictures on instagram at public spots like restaurants or the beach. He’d then spent a minute to study their profile and would approach people of the picture IRL to say something like ā€œhey bill, long time no see since the party last monthā€.

One of the person responded with ā€œstop invading my privacyā€.

Lol dumbass

Nice NewPipe for desktop. Was looking for this for a long time. Thank you for this url and your well elaborated context. šŸ«‚

Piped is pretty good, when it works. Sometimes the site doesn’t load properly otherwise it’s great for watching YouTube videos privately. You can even import your YouTube subs.
