These things have the same value because they have different verifiable track records of scarcity.

This is why #bitcoin will win. Bitcoin is more verifiably scarce than any fiat currency. Bitcoin is more verifiably scarce than gold or silver. Bitcoin is more verifiably scarce than inkjet printer ink. Bitcoin is more verifiably scarce than any crypto with a small foundation changing the rules every 3 months.
