Ideas on how to grow zap.stream?

Limitations: normies don’t have sats to support creators.

Creators incur costs but without supporters they won’t create content on the platform.

They can get sats if they use nostr:npub1sg6plzptd64u62a878hep2kev88swjh3tw00gjsfl8f237lmu63q0uf63m‘s CashApp already.

Jack, want to weigh in?

And if they don’t? Another service to sign up for

Good point. However, I’ve noticed that a bunch more people than I thought already have it.

I set my cash app to round up every debit card purchase and get Bitcoin with it. That’s essentially how I fund zaps and boosts. I would never keep more than like $20 worth of Bitcoin in there, and I would never fuss about losing $20. Used to happen all the time when I still went to bars. 😂

pushing client integration.

streaming sats a minute to the creator option, similar to how Fountain does it.

ability to rewatch watch streams that have already ended and also post clips about them on your timeline

Clips would be cool and I like the streaming sats idea.

The only issue here is that it keeps zapstream in house between Nostriches and doesn’t help with new blood

it’s easiest to initially grow it from within, and develop it, before pushing it to the audience and creators outside of the space.

you don’t want people to have a Pokemon Go type experience, where everybody joins really early on with huge excitement, even before the product is actually fully ready and competitive yet.

first impressions can be made only once and then people will do the word-of-mouth advertising for you behind the scenes.

also, in addition.

nostriches first

nostr/twitter cross-posters second

then it’s up to y’all to be competitive enough

I think the next logical step is to start archiving /indexing videos into a library like YouTube does and maybe add a upload only option (not live)

Wouldn’t upload only just turn it into a video site? Not so much streaming?

I don’t think it has to be one or the other. YouTube has both why can’t zap stream?

Plus there should be a place on zapstream where you can rewatch the streams no?!

make a “submit feedback” box somewhere, i have so many ideas bouncing around whenever i’m live

How do viewers sub/tip to twitch or kick? Cc I assume?

If they’re willing to do that, facilitating a very easy custodial or non custodial (need both for tech and non tech friends) process of buying sats to tip and/or sub, should not be a stretch. Bits or sats should not matter.

Like Tanel said, streaming sats or subs seem like a good idea.

Honestly, finding some streamers to switch over is gonna be key - however that happens (whether sponsorships or recruitment of sorts, etc). The draw of not having everything dictated by an org and the difference in revenue is massive.

I think giving streams the same formula as ppv where paying X amount of sats gives that npub access to a stream - that’s gonna be huge. You can live stream concerts, shows, conferences, etc.

If my now only concern is making sure I provide quality content and if self-hosting, that portion of things, that’s a massive win.

I think the tech is almost good enough. We have the classic chicken and egg problem here:

- Streamers won't come since there are hardly any viewers.

- Viewers won't come since there is not much consistent high quality stream ing content (no offense).

I have been thinking how to break through this, but I suppose it mostly just takes time ...

- We need to make the nostr community as much as possible aware of the streams. Maybe posting even VOD highlights, stream announcements etc.

- We should make Streamers aware that we have a fantastic open community here at nostr and that they can earn Bitcoin by streaming here (and keep 100%).

- For streamers it is important to build a friendly community of regular viewers. At some point we might need a moderated chat - maybe by merging the nostr community features.

I've been thinking it'd be cool to have a Roku or Fire TV app 😬.

Tried to look into it. Apparently, fire tv can already take in web apps.

Can it be as simple as promoting it with existing streamers?

Streamers on twitch and youtube lose 30-50% of their revenue to the platform and are fairly restricted by content guidelines. The valueproposition will be obvious to them. 🤔
