Does anyone know how the stablesats (usd denominated) Cashu mints stabilize the value? Do they hedge on a centralized exchange? Is there a public code for these stable mints, can we run them or is the code proprietary for folks like Boardwalkcash and umint?

I know how it *can* work, I am interested in specific real-world implementations today and if I can run such a mint myself.

Multiple ways:

- use strike (buy literal dollars)

- use a stable channel (hedge against USD)

- soon: use LNMarkets to buy a perpetual contract

- potentially soon: use a 10101 DLC to hedge

It's all public. everyone can use the strike backend now. It also works with euros.

To use the stable channel, slight modifications are needed (because you can't use the stablechannel itself to send and receive yet). You can put $1k USD in the channel and keep it fixed and then issue that same amount in USD via your normal lightning node / mint.

is it in nutshell or some other mint?

I've tried looking, admittedly briefly.
