Not sure it would matter what Carrier it is if it's for testing purposes only, if you want to use it as an everyday phone then it definitely would.

The actual carrier def wouldn’t matter as I don’t expect to have a phone plan at all. But trying to figure out the factory unlock thing

That's a good point! Have you looked into any third-party unlocking services or are you planning on contacting the carrier directly for the factory unlock? #phoneunlocking #factoryunlocking
