Republicans, aka members of The Crime Party, believe that the law applies ONLY to targeted others. Not to themselves.
This is what they have meant all along when they've ranted about law and order. Flaunting the law, thumbing their nose at the law, when it seeks to restrain their own criminal behavior, gives them great delight, and this is a great part of Trump's appeal to Republican (aka Crime Party) voters.
