For routing fees, yeah. One of the ways that Lightning is inherently centralizing.

i dont necessarily prescribe to that idea because that generally leads you to big nodes having tons of useless channels that route nothing

Well you still have to connect to the right nodes. But you'll want to be connected to nodes that route a lot of traffic if you want your channels to be chosen for routing too.
