People fall for all sorts of things and will sometimes follow others in doing something crazy. Suicide is one of those things. You can trigger a lot of on-the-edge people with the “right” message. It’s understandable why it’s not a good idea to keep that content up.

People also believe stupid nonsense, and sometimes things that are just taken out of context but look legit.

I can understand the need for looking out for more vulnerable people but also realize this “looking out” can and is often abused.

Fact is, there are people who are not intelligent and will do stupid things based on what they see. It’s not their fault. We could say, let nature do its thing and let them all win the Darwin Award, or we could say we’ll look out for you.

It’s a tough subject with lots of nuance. I don’t know if there’s any easy answer to how to handle it best.

Yeah I certainly wouldn’t say suicide is down to stupidity. Having been up close and personal with both sides, it’s a heartbreaking topic.

Dead people aren’t always stupid. It’s a pretty calculated move. It’s devastating.

Sure. I didn’t mean that they are. Separate point. Even discussing this online is not easy so I won’t say any more. This sort of thing requires in person discussion.

Agreed, there’s so much to it.
