I am almost in line with you. I agree that it is additional work. But I argue, that this is a work which is needed, in order to get rid of algorythms, which push you towards some bias.

And there is opportunity to create lists, which can serve as an entrance.

Could be in a way, where several users can recommend lists for a distinct purpose. Preferably centralized on a site.
