I moved off post (age 14) and into a subdivision.

It was cool having a shoppett near by. The third time me and my new friends walked in I was showing my ID card like you do.

The older lady behind the counter with a thick East German/European accent asked what I was doing.

When I said showing my ID so I can shop I got a very loud 10 min rant about how you don’t do that in a free nation, that she did not come here just to see kids turning into mindless idiots showing their papers on demand. (And that I was too young to have ID).
