Is it better to own your house or rent ?

In my opinion it is now better to rent .

Houses are overpriced because they have become an “investment”, a way to maintain wealth in spite of inflation . Ironically inflation is caused by banks creating money out of thin air, when people take out a mortgage to buy a house. 🤡

I rent but its bloody expensive in London. The only drawback for me is that I have to keep moving because of landlords being a pain and letting agents even worse

We rent. All of our savings is HODLED. Real estate is a shitcoin. And until there are no property taxes you will never actually OWN it anyway. I can take my 🌽 with me wherever I want, and not strapped to one location at any given time.

Tradeoffs both ways. Its a good question but perhaps no single "right answer."

I prefer owning. Mortgage payment vs rent is generally pretty comparable, especially after a few years of owning the home. There is the down payment that you’ll need for buying as well as up keep. But once mortgage is paid off you only need to pay insurance and taxes. Also if you rent, the landlord can jack up rent at any time and if you don’t want to pay it, you’ll have to find somewhere else to live

Houses are shitcoins but land isn't. Buy some hilly scraggly land far from suburbia, then build something small on it with your own hands.
