this is not correct! 😠too many relays and you'll have a bad time. you'll experience lag issue and you'll also blow through a ton of mobile data! i learned this back in early january when i had 43 relays! 🤣

I’ve never had mobile data issues but I also have background app losing off. Wonder if that helps keep stuff from constantly loading when I’m not actively using it.
i don't believe nostr clients use background data. but i used 10GB from January 1 to January 6. i ran out of data with my amount of nostr usage, everyone posting 50MB images as profile pics, and me having over 40 relays to post to and pull data from.
Say you only have a few relays and they rug or go kaput, your notes are gone for good, right ?
Yes. That's why you run your own private relay so you cannot be ruffed. But using somewhere around a dozen should be a good number. I have 18 at the moment and need to trim a few again.
I think you mean a different private relay than the one in umbrel . Right?
There are tools for transferring your notes from one relay to another. Derek is right on this.
