It’s a fairly recent annoyance. There are methods of muting that helps. I believe there are several looking into more effective solutions but it may take a little while. I’ve found muting certain parts such as “wss” is helpful but it’s kind of a trial and error situation for now
I don’t see any of them thanks to Damus web of trust filter and a curated set of relays.
Daniel can you provide some detail? I think I’ve missed some of the solutions and it could help Peruvian Bull too

Basically you’re limiting what you can see to relays that require permission to post (either paid or whitelisted) and your client is filtering out notifications from people you don’t follow.
