Replying to nobody

Thinkpad: 7 screws, six plasic snaps (nubs that tend to break/wear)

MacBook: 5 screws (but minus points for being pentalobe) and 4 snaps which are designed to be reused (finger/gripper style). Minus points for having to slide bottom forward for release.

It was really close in the actual experience tbh, but without an electronics screwdriver kit with a P5 bit, would make things very different.

Sounds like they've gotten a bit cheaper in the last few years, then :( but yeah, from a consumer-friendliness point of view needing to buy extra kits does bug me. I kinda like being able to macguiver things just with what I have on my keyring knife.

It’s standard in electronics kits now (I got mine with 80+ bits from Harbor Freight for $37) but yeah. I took points for it. Thinkpad still used a Phillips.
