In my opinion keep the app free but have an option to donate funds to keep the project going.

We're trying to build up Nostr and I know I'm trying to onboard new users when I can but telling them they need to pay for an app to use it, will quickly turn them off to the idea.

I agree the main focus is to try and grow Nostr as much as we can and show people the freedom and power of decentralization, FOSS and cool features like zaps.

It's not about the funds, it's about getting people off the PlayStore.

Understood. Although I will say, most people I know, even technical people like myself, like to keep things easy and downloading and installing from the app store keeps it easy and simple.

If we make it harder for people to onboard, it will definitely slow the growth of Nostr.

Just my thoughts.

The fastest way to get people off the PlayStore is to purple pill them.

This is friction to purple pill them so likely has the opposite intended effect.
