I'd say an early trial of universal income.

Everybody gets it on a regular basis?

If you apply for it yes. You get anything between €600 and €3,000 a month plus rent, plus health insurance. If you do it right (as some people do) you can get more Bürgergeld staying home than you get for working 160 hours in a month. Obviously that raises the question "why should I work" for many people if some who don't work receive the same money (or more) for staying home.

Is Bürgergeld the equivalent of Arbeitslosengeld in Österreich? Or is it really for anyone who wants it?
