#asknostr Question: what is the cheapest node setup for a newbie? I've been looking into the start9 and the raspi 4 would it be better to save and get the start9 or should I go with the raspi? I'm not very computer techy but I'm a hands on type so I can figure it out. I just want somthing that's not easily breakable.. thanks in advance #nostr

What about a refurbished notebook, 4-8 GB RAM, SSD with 1 TB, install Start 9 on it? Not much more than a Raspi but more reliable and faster. Personally I also like mini PCs like the Intel NUC. Good luck!

what are you using? what's your set up? I didn't know you could get start9 server software separate from thier hardware. !!?!

So far I have nothing setup. I'm still in the research phase

aah, I see. yeah, me too.

i like to over analyze during the research phase. aka analysis paralysis, been here since April, still collating. ;)

It doesn't help that I have a few other projects going that cost an insane amount of fiat

always something...

and I know I gotta replace that old water heater before she blows... but... #btc !!!

lol

Hahaha better getter before she does...we just had our blow in August I can honestly say I'm glad that's over with it was no beuno.

Now we're moving on to the next one hknda head gasket! Whoop whoop

yup. come to think of it I've been hearing a little tick in my engine. I can ignore that for a bit more. no black smoke yet. ;)

good luck with the head gasket.

Raspi is popular but a cheaper way is finding an unused laptop/PC (with ssd).

Umbrel is an easy start...

You can put start9 on a raspberry Pi. Get two birds stoned at once.
