Something I read once that has stuck with me for years, "we are the adults now so we get to decide what that means." If that means I enjoy putting on costumes and walking down the street with my kid or going to a party, then so be it. (Btw, I will absolutely take ANY opportunity to put on a costume and take a step away from reality for a bit.)
