Because people make threats online, authorities overlook them, and then the crime is carried out irl.

I'm presuming you don't know what it's like to refuse to take the trash out after dark. I'm presuming you haven't had someone find your parents' work contact to harrass them because they're blocked from contacting you directly. I presume you give out your phone number when you're interested in someone, as opposed to Instagram.

You can block me if you want to ignore people expressing real fears based on real events. If you block me, my pesky little arguments go away forever.

I can't pretend someone doesn't exist once I block them. I get to know that they're out there, every day, fully able to make a new account, get a new phone, download a VPN. They're never truly gone.
