Instead of someone talking voice, there's a group of data transmitted together. Binary data that is encoded somehow, maybe different sounds. In a lot of ways, WiFi is still a radio, it's just pushing data packets for the internet instead of FM music.

The wifi analogy is probably the best I've heard. My mental entaglement, I suppose, is putting internet access through a radio. The constant up and down (loads), we did this when I was in the service, but the equipment it took was very significant. I really like the concept.
