Yes I am (25+ years). Given how easy it is to direct GPT-4 to write code using the direction I'm giving it, I can only imagine how good v5/6/10/25 are going to be. It may not remove jobs *today*, but the day is coming. That's what I'm saying.

Hmmm, these things are trained on past data. I’m skeptical about overarching claims like this because humans keep wanting new things that have never been done before. You think Chat GPT could have come
up with the Nostr protocol given a vague question like “write me a decentralized social media program”?
Still, I’ve started using GitHub codex and can’t believe how nice it makes coding, so I’m all in for these tools and think they will totally change how software dev happens.
Absolutely. Not only will jobs be displaced but entire industries.
I’ve been wondering about this, and I think it will lead to more software being written by more people, and it’s one thing to get the first prototype working but will chatgpt be able to debug like a human? And if there’s lots more software out there than we’ll still need lots of developers.
Plus on the security side, I keep hearing how things keep getting worse and more complex with so many software layers these days, that idk if there really won’t be a place for a human developer anymore.
That’s the first order effect. But 2nd order is that software need not be written at all when an AI system handles all the functions automatically
Short term logic. Think a step beyond.
