Ask any #youngstr if they’ll use an app without “likes”, … I’ll bet money they say no.
I personally, asked this question to many.. results always the same. Answer was always no.
I asked my teen son that is already here about the likes vs zaps only, and he’s thoughts were very interesting!
Very intriguing getting the ‘teen kids’ point of view on this🤔
Would be awesome to hear his thoughts if you or he gets the time. More input is always good.

Ok might be a little long as it was rather a long conversation with him, but in a nutshell;
- teen’s certainly do NOT overthink the ‘like’ button
- they simply like it, full stop
- the don’t think too deeply into the ‘like’ they just like it and thats it
- they don’t want to comment
- teens don’t comment on posts/notes as thats not how they communicate online
- they wouldn’t value zaps as they prefer likes
- it’s definitely not for self validation at all, they just like it cause they like it!
- the reason teens love tiktok is due to the ‘like’ button and in their world it matters, not so much for again validation but more about its just the way they communicate
- if ‘likes’ were taken away from any platforms then the teens would definitely not be interested
This is purely from a teen’s perspective and again I will stress that he has spoken to his friends about this both males and female teens and they all agree on this.
Whether anyone agrees or disagrees with this, it’s a valuable market data. These people are the future, growth depends upon adoption.

These guys and gals are the future of social media and platforms, so to get their ideas(and he has a lot of them) and thoughts I think is very important 💜
I believe the young of the “z” generation are going to be hell on wheels when they mix their new perspective with a healthy dose of “my parents weren’t complete idiots.”
In my experience that’s somewhere in their 30s. In the meanwhile I just want them to explore and I’ll keep my fingers crossed. #cautiouslyoptimistic
Interesting on the comments.
I was very hesitant to comment with complete strangers, and sometimes even people I knew my entire life (Facebook).
But engaging on Bitcoin twitter and nostr has certainly gotten me a lot more comfortable in doing so. I like to talk on spaces and nests sometimes too.
But I’m also not a teenager. Their world and how they communicate online is probably much different than me.

Teens today and the upcoming generation will grow up in a world so technologically superior to ours. The gap will be like us to grandparents today, or even further.
Exciting and a little scary at the same time
I hear ya. Depends how young I guess. I think we have an opportunity to encourage kids to create, learn, share, both IRL and online with the goal of impacting, thriving, and earning a living with value for value initiatives instead of simply relying on ‘like’ validation for satisfaction/happiness. 💜
As Bitcoin integrates into everything, v4v will be transformational, imo. Very, very different world. Hopefully very bright and full of hope.
It would definitely could be a barrier to entry/onboarding.
I think for me I would want to see the “like” exist as a free option for all users, but with the ability to filter it from your notifications.
I have a lot of thoughts about how Bitcoin fights spam and why implementing costs isn’t always as bad thing. Hard for me to express fully w/o long paragraphs right now… which means I need a better understanding myself to be able to simply my thoughts.
