John Locke had the right view of money: “some lasting (read: trustworthy) thing that men might keep (read: not squander) without spoiling (read: devaluing)”

He envisioned money being used in exchange of “truly useful” things that support life; which is in direct contrast to the junk goods we buy on a whim in order to maintain an image of success in the eyes of our neighbor -an image that degrades our soul and holds us captive.

Oh how I long for people to return to these principles -to take seriously their labor and the labor of those around them. Few of us are on the right path, but it’s these few that will change the world.
