Motorola only offers ~2 years of software and security updates for their phones after launch. Do not be persuaded by their low prices unless you're ok with having an abandoned unit in your hand in 24 months.

If you can root and degoogle it successfully, more power to you. I just seem to have problems finding correct firmwares for it and I'm unwilling to experiment with firmware I'm not certain about.
