Decentralized money. Decentralized communication. With each new pleb that shows up in my global feed I grow more bullish on both. We're not stopping either. We're building. We're growing. What a time to be alive.
Discussion
Between Nostr and Bitcoin, we really are trending in a positive direction. I think this form of open and free communication will be popular with the Bitcoin community and many others. If it starts trending, this could be really powerful.
As the UI and UX improve across nostr, it's going to blow up within the Bitcoin community for sure. Right now the only reason not to use it is because it's not as polished as other services. BUT! We are the signal. We are the party. We are here and we are early.
I'm loving the concept so far. The UI is a bit rough (using astral) but I'll take a censorship resistant protocol with a rough UI over other social media every day of the week and twice on Sunday!
It will get better over time. I use astral tool. It's been a real asshole today crashing my browser a dozen or more times. But I am hopeful. I know these things take time.
No doubt! As a software dev myself I don't mind it being a bit rough in the meantime.
Once the backend foundation is solid, the frontends will improve. Early birds get the joy of breaking things and providing great feedback like this to devs haha.

How do you post gifs and images? (sorry for newbie question)
I should have said, using astral + alby. Thanks for making that post about who's holding your keys. I just created my keys this evening and had I not seen that post wouldn't have thought to use that browser extension.
Oh, you're welcome.
Yes, sir.
I’m loving there are no ads so I can only read real posts
I love that too, and the fact that the Global feed isn't overwhelming yet. That will change in time, but for now it's really cool to watch the new posts in real time.
I remember when Google+ had an "all" feed. It eventually got overwhelming and they removed it too. Makes sense.
It reminds me of my Telnet days pre www. I would log into MUSE/MUCK/MUD systems (Multi-User Simulated Environments that were like programmable chat rooms). This has that grungy coder feel to it. I love it.
I used to use a MUD and BBS back in the day ;) The only thing I remember doing is playing Legend of the Red Dragon and sending messages/chat.
Ha! I ran a BBS out of my bedroom on a 3600bps modem. I coded the BBS myself in QuickBASIC. It was fun being a sysop as a teenager lol. Still can't believe my dad paid for an extra phoneline so I could goof off like that.
Used to build fun stuff in Pascal with my buddy. We made a client/server pong with paddle upgrades. It was fucking magic.
Been writing code since I was 8. Got a TRS-80 from a garage sale for $5 my dad gave me. Brought it home, figured out how to hook it up to the TV, turned it on. It said "The BASIC Programming Language". Had no idea what that was so went to the library. The rest is history.
3600? You speed demon! I accessed my BBS on a 9600pbs modem. Actually, I even accessed the web on that before upgrading to 33.6K and then later to 56K. Good times.
My first modem was a 1200 lol. I'm not quite old school enough for the 300s that you had to hook up to the phone receiver. I remember my first 56k. I couldn't believe how fast it downloaded images. I mean, it only took 10 or 15 seconds instead of 60 lol
I felt like I went from Napster 7 kb/second to downloading 10gb over Wi-Fi in minutes overnight
💪
