The phone looks cool. Except for the part where itās written seed vault on it. Ready to get robbed everytime you take it out your pocket š
Still seems better then most aroids on the market for 500 cuckbucks
The specs are really good. Only issue is the seed vault for me. Iād rather keep that separated from my phone that I use daily
Itās no different then the se that n most other phones I think
What do you mean? All phones have a secure element?
Exactly my point so whatās the issue.
My point is that itās bad opsec to have seedvault written on the back of the phone for everyone to see. Itās like having a bitcoin class of 17 license plate but much worse.
Thatās what cases are for tho
Come on š
Also the fact that someone would potentially carry their stack around all
the time is very risky
Plus the phone is always connected to the internetā¦
For real tho whenās the last time your passwords have been leaked from your iPhoneās se/ password managerā¦
Never
So donāt you think it "could be safe"
Why do we even have signing devices offline then?
Maybe for smalls amounts like a zap wallet for example. But normie will keep all his coins on it. And will talk about it to whoever lol
Many of this is actually fearmongering from HWW manufacturers.
I agree a separate device is useful for security, but from there the arguments start to make no sense.
For example, many āattacksā on USB are due to tradeoffs between security and performance (DMA and similar) and devices trusting anything to be what it says like a keyboard.
All the USB stacks on hardware wallets are impossible to attack because they are simple and they donāt allow anyone to just input fake clicks.
The offline part you mean?
Regardless of that walking around with a phone that has your stack on it isnāt the best idea imo
Yes. Having a phone with your stack is a bad idea, and putting it on the same device. There are documented sandbox escapes that could let attackers talk with the SE and steal your funds.
But if it is a dedicated device, no issue there.
I understand. If itās a dedicated device. Whatās the appeal of having a phone subscription on it? Do some buying and selling directly on it? Wouldnāt that phone line be kyced?
Pretty sure the sol phone has to be shipped kyc, I havenāt seen it in a store yet either.
KYC phone with a built in KYC wallet
Paranoia for the most part⦠imho
But I definitely donāt think everything should be stored in one placeā¦
If I have to choose between careless with a ledger tied around my neck or a phone with seedvault written on it, Iāll choose paranoia š
Totally agree with you that not everything should be in the same place. So a spending/zap wallet on the phone makes sense. Between having WoS on my phone, and the Apple logo on it, OR a perfectly integrated signing device on my phone, with seedvault written on the backā¦
