The bolt is going to get screwed to the ceiling (or wall) and then the tentacle can be reaching out of the ceiling (or wall) with no visible attachment points. It can also be more load bearing than if it was just taped onto the ceiling/wall.

The large bolt is about as thick as my pinky finger. I forgot to put something in frame for scale.
