This reminds me of some internal resistance I've had for learning to do some of my own vehicle maintenance (after shit jobs done locally). Yeah, it's work and costs more than paying the shop, but I'm doing the job correctly with the best parts to keep me and my family safe. I also learn new skills and may even end up with a new hobby.

The cost benefit analysis of things can be a lot broader than I sometimes realize.
