Roman sculptors Claudius, Castor, Nicostratus, and Sempronianus refused to carve a statue of Aesculapius, declaring themselves Christians. They were imprisoned, but when their faith healed a blind man, the emperor Diocletian had them tortured. Unwavering, they were drowned in a river. Let us pray for their steadfastness in our own trials, that we may always choose God over worldly acclaim.
