Yet I have to be a pragmatist, and unfortunately, my expectations for our community members to respect one another as neighbors have eroded.

As a result, I now anticipate a lesser outcome, though I remain hopeful for the possibility of being pleasantly surprised by acts of respect, kindness or goodwill.
