For antiseptic mushrooms it does; you need to cook them a loong time. 3 hours hard boiled, 30 mins pressure cooker, or ~15mins microwave. Then cook again when eating.
Don't let that stop you from mushroom maxxing elsewhere.
When you cook them again when eating, do you just throw them in the cast iron with your beef or do it different way?

Always just throw them in with whatever. Together in the pan with patties, or a handful in the pressure cooker making oyster rice, etc...
