بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
This is just a short clarification (or a rant, if you’d like to call it that).
I somehow got caught in a heated discussion in the timeline, something I usually avoid, but since it involved Muslims, particularly the Sunni–Shia topic, I feel the need to explain my stance.
First, I appreciate brother nostr:npub1dmyw5ekz2knz4x6mqpcqxrjk26ytgq66q5w66yhlthk9fm6mzqesgw7rza for the reminder and nostr:npub1w8p59d4ge35aa67x6ygy923wyy00ym0zundjvwh35qvn6jjt6n5ql2xdyl for the sharing.
A bit about me: I’m not an imam, ustaz, or scholar. Just an ordinary Muslim with a small family, trying my best to live by what I know. I don’t speak Arabic fluently, and even my English needs polishing, I even rely on AI to help with grammar and phrasing.
Most of what I know comes from what I learned growing up, local teachings, fatwas, and guidance from Malaysian scholars. Here, most Muslims follow the Sunni faith, Syafi‘i school of jurisprudence, and Ash‘ari–Maturidi creed. That’s my grounding.
Personally, I lean towards Syafi‘i jurisprudence with some Salafi influence in understanding fiqh and tauhid. But I don’t claim deep knowledge, just a preference for how these schools explain matters.
That said, I want to be clear: I disagree with Shia beliefs and practices. I don’t consider them within Islam as I understand it. Still, online, I can tolerate their presence, the same way I can tolerate others with differing beliefs, as long as they don’t push it into my space.
So, if you’re Shia and you hold views that insult the Sahabah ﵁, my beloved mother Aishah ﵁, or excessively venerate Ali ﵁, that’s your choice, just don’t bring it to me, and we won’t have a problem. I’ll stay neutral and civil. I’m not here to debate religion; I’m here, in Nostr, mostly for vibes and shitpostings.
Again, thank you, brother nostr:npub1dmyw5ekz2knz4x6mqpcqxrjk26ytgq66q5w66yhlthk9fm6mzqesgw7rza, for your advice, I’ll be more mindful. And nostr:npub1w8p59d4ge35aa67x6ygy923wyy00ym0zundjvwh35qvn6jjt6n5ql2xdyl, I’ll read your content and take what aligns with my understanding. Wisdom can sometimes be found even among adversaries.
And to brother nostr:npub1w8p59d4ge35aa67x6ygy923wyy00ym0zundjvwh35qvn6jjt6n5ql2xdyl, I’m not sure if you’re actually Shia or not, we haven’t interacted that much. Still, I’ve learned to give people the benefit of the doubt and avoid quick judgement, so I’ll do the same here. I also respect and tolerate some Shia users who do the same for me, those who engage politely and don’t push their views into my notes.
Thanks again for sharing your thoughts and contributions.
