Work laptop died on a work from home day. Had to drive in anyway to get a loaner. I’m on call this weekend so hopefully it has all the software I need.

How did the laptop die? Did it just not power on? Or was there an event like spilling of coffee or something like that or did it fall?

It was on last night when I went to bed and this morning it was off and wouldn’t boot up. Tried 3 different power cords and hold the power button for an extended period of time and nothing would bring it back.

Seems to me that maybe something on the motherboard died. Maybe the charging circuit went or something 🤷‍♂️

If it was working fine and then suddenly just didn't turn on today.

The PMU or power management unit might just need to be reset.

To try, here are the steps.

Unplug the power cord and disconnect the battery.

Hold down the power button for 30-45 seconds.

Reinstall the battery and power cord and attempt to power on as you normally would.

If it doesn't turn on try again from the beginning a couple of times, just incase.

Good luck!

Any luck? 🤞 🍀

Unfortunately my company’s support center already took my laptop and I’m going through the process of setting up my loaner. Thanks for your help though!

Oh! I was to late. Hope the loaner works out for you! Cheers!

Thanks! It will get me by for now.
