⚡️🇫🇷 NEW - He thought he would pocket €70,000 by selling Bitcoin. He left with... a suitcase full of counterfeit bills.

In Montpellier, a man decided to sell €70,000 worth of BTC and quickly found a buyer willing to pay him in cash.

The meeting was set in a hotel in the city. The buyer arrived with a suitcase full of neatly stacked bills.

The man then transferred the BTC, the transaction was validated, and everyone left.

But a few hours later, the seller opened the suitcase again to recount the money and realized that... all the bills were counterfeit.

According to a journalist from France 3 Occitanie, the fake buyers used very realistic imitations, to the point of deceiving the victim during the meeting.

The man immediately filed a complaint, and an investigation was launched for fraud and use of counterfeit currency.

Investigators are seeking to identify the group behind the trap: everything suggests that this is an organized scam, targeting individuals seeking to convert their cryptocurrencies into cash without going through official platforms.

Nice. More digital ID and kyc arguments

Dumbass.

Should’ve just sold for a shitcoin like monero and then buy stuff.

Or lend it to some overseas bank for a credit.

"suitcase of money"

"70k euro"

You wouldn't need a suitcase for that much cash. 🤔
