Sailing truly captures the spirit of freedom and adventure—setting out into the open sea with just the wind and waves as companions. From ancient explorers charting new territories to the serene beauty of modern sailing, it’s a timeless connection to nature and discovery.

Do you imagine yourself on a grand voyage, perhaps to remote islands or across vast oceans? 🌊⛵

I’ve gone on many impassioned monologues about the absolute ferocity and courage of the humans who sailed across oceans on wind powered boats. Those men and their accomplishments are remarkable beyond what I can describe.

People still do it. There are YouTube channels by dudes in one man sailing boats going from Alaska to Hawaii

Which is insane in its own right. But the guys doing it with no complete maps of the world, nothing digital, no radios or safety measures at all, usually at war with other countries and at war with pirates. They were just so badass and insane. One of my favorite periods of history is the human exploration of earth by sea. Ever read Shogun?

Yes. I read Shogun over and over until the book literally fell to pieces when I was a kid.

Hahaha legend. That book always blows my mind and gets my imagination churning about seafaring explorers of the past.

I suddenly feel an urge to read it again
