Well it's certainly not the case anywhere but if a large % of employers have that bad practice, it's very inconvenient.

I agree that employers can have that power, but in my opinion, if you're good at what you do, opportunities won't be missed. I never had linkedin and I was never asked why.

I didn't even finish college, and today ironically I work at a university lol.

It depends on the job market. If I was desperate I could justify the privacy sacrifice for a greater chance. Of course it's preferable to go without it.

It's because of linked in I've interviewed several times at every fang company. They likely never would have given me the time of day without it. Each time they reached out through linked in.

This is certainly a personal matter, I don't want to work in fang and much less in any company that requires some kind of title from me. 🤙
