Can anyone recommend a vpn? I’m starting to set up a bitcoin node for the first time. I’ve set up a vm and suspect It doesn’t have a built n vpn. #plebchain

Mullvad has been great for me. Bonus points for being able to pay for the service anonymously with LN:

Ok, so just need to figure out what LN wallet to use lol. Lots to do. Should I download wallet onto desktop? Can you recommend a wallet? I currently use sparrow but I don’t think that has ln

What are you wanting to do? I use Zeus on mobile to spend from my node, though tbh Phoenix is more streamlined (but is not connected to my node). On desktop I use Alby connected to my node. It works great and doubles as a nostr key manager

Sorry for late reply, I didn’t see this at first. Tbh I’m just at the start, I’ve not started on the LN/ wallet yet. Basically just stated setting up a BTC node and will go/progress from there. So I’ve put the node together and done the virtual machine part, installed tor using apt install tor and can see it running. But I now am not sure what the tor part is actually protecting.

Sorry to info dump… yikes

No port forwarding :(

You can pay with just a zap at IVPN.net too, can vouch for em 100%, but they also just dropped port forwarding.

Thanks for that. In relation to ‘trade offs’ does port forwarding matter for someone with low risk profile?
