Well - you aren't exactly wrong. When you see a string starting with "lnurl1", that's a Bech32 encoded address - in fact, in the case of a WoS user like yourself, that lnurl translates to something like: https://walletofsatoshi.com/.well-known/lnurlp/somename
Notice the "lnurlp" part? This is an LNBits extension, and can be resolved by most LNAddress compatible clients as "somename@walletofsatoshi.com" (see the pattern: $username@$domain becomes $domain/.well-known/lnurlp/$username).
This URL, when called upon by a client software, will tell them how to request invoices, that they will then pay via the Lightning network.
But since LN Addresses are far more readable than lnurls, people generally use that instead. :)
