After seeing my neice go through this... I'm pretty convinced that I'm not going to have a TV in my home at all.

They will still watch TV.

Eventually. Yes. But... I don't want it to be in the most formative years.

😂

Muh man! (We don't have one.)

That said, from age 10 they've had iPads with YouTube, so I guess I should shut up now :p

If they still like to read books, that's fine. If they are mature and responsible, that's fine.

The books are a sore point with me. They read, but prefer YT :(

Well, yeah. If they can figure out that YT is a useful tool, not just for mindless BS but for learning how to do cool stuff, that might help.

That they have.

Mindless BS too, of course!

Well, I have no idea how that would play out since I'm very unlikely to ever have any of my own to raise.

You have the life experience to do it right!

Nope. I sure don't.

YouTube is almost unstoppable when it comes to our offspring. Sad that that is… I’ve seen many a parent battle with this.

A TV for satellite or terrestrial broadcasts along with paying for a “TV licence” is incredibly fiat. An LCD panel for viewing content that you choose is less fiat.

We don't have a TV licensing scheme here in the US. I always thought that was peak idiocy. 😅

True, but... If it's there, it will be used.

It is definitely idiocy in the UK
